Cross the Border
Verse 1
Once in a while I go and cross the border.
Put down my stuff to see if I can play for her.
It’s a small city people still have time.
For tears and a smile when someone sings his mind.
And everytime I go, It’s her I hope to see.
I never know If she will come back to me.
Or for how long she must endure this trainwreck of pain,
Eehh I hope to see her tears and smile back again.
Bridge
Although she breathes in defeat.
And her sweet heart struggles for another beat
Chorus
She flies so free
When I play for her, when I play for her
She flies so free. When I play for her
the brightness in her strong eyes light up the sky for me
Verse 2
And everyday she steps away further
Of feeling free, as all her limbs slowly imprison her.
Now she can use her feet no longer,
Wheels and a chair is the next step for her
Bridge + Chorus
Verse 3
Once again I’m over the border,
Put down my stuff to see but there’s no sign of her.
It’s a small city and people still have time to spent.
But no money can buy time back again.
Chorus
No need to play for her no need to play for her
The brightness in her blue eyes light up the sky for me
For me For me For me Ohh Ohh Oh...
Chorus 3
She flies so free.
No need to play for her. No need to play for her.
The brightness in her strong eyes lights up the sky for me.
Afraid of the Man
Verse 1
No greater love can feel worse.
Are you my Angel? Are you my curse?
Oh, why we met I can’t regret.
Verse 2
No a million memories out of range.
I tell whole mankind to make a change.
I remain and stay this way, I just wait for.... I just wait.
Chorus
Because I’m so afraid of the man I’ll be.
Without my faith, without your hand.
You’re all I feel, you’re all I see.
Verse3
In every smile, Of every girl I see your eyes.
And it makes me so damn sure.
Though you’re my pain, you’re my cure.
Chorus
Chorus 2
Because I’m so afraid of the man I’ll be.
Without my faith, without your hand.
But there’s no need, you’re all I see.
I Choose to Feel Happy
Music high, foreign streets, many steps, small island feet.
How I love those two.
They brought her soul. Bright eyes smiled to me and they said it all.
Lights looked low, as she walked by, no small talk, brightened sky.
How I love those lips.
Moved by her soul. This I never had before. They said it all. They said it all
Love so high, but on the road, no arms at night, she needs some.
How I loved to come back,
But it takes her too long. Bright eyes closed. Her pain needs to numb. Let’s get it on.
Far away, days crawled by, no small talk, even hope can die.
I can’t blame those lips,
Can’t blame her soul.... No words at all.
They said it all.
I choose to feel happy I read.
And if you feel this way, you should do the same instead.
I love your blue soul. But I choose to feel happy, she wrote on the wall.
The wall around her soul.
They said it all. They said it all.
No. 24
Verse 1 + 2
I'm just a gardener at Avenue du Beaumont
Where number 24 was written on the wall.
I love that big old garden, with it's ancient trees
And all those mosquitos suckin' on our knees.
But in that big old garden there's something else I found.
This colourful butterfly flapping around.
This was something else.
Chorus 1
And so I planted a seed,
so strong, for water no need.
And I know, I know it will grow.
But the pace needs to be slow.
Verse 3
This colourful butterfly at Avenue Beaumont,
Living in the garden of number 24,
Needs to flap around a few years longer.
Cause it takes time for her wings to grow stronger.
Chorus 2
Because I've planted a seed.
So strong for water no need.
And I know, I know it will grow.
But the pace needs to be so slow.
I know, I know it will grow.
But the pace can only be so slow.
Verse 4
In a few years at Avenue Beaumont.
My plant will rise above number 24.
And when its flowers are high up in the sky.
Her strong little wings will lift her up high. Lift her up high. High.
End
And then I am just the gardener at Avenue Beaumont,
Where all my pretty flowers are covering the number on the wall.
Unconditionally
The red looks orange, the dark green grey.
Although discoloured, they give it all away,
I’d opened up the album of my first year,
How images can change suddenly after thirty two years.
Another human being with another soul.
But so familiar to the vague picture below.
I see my brother and mother laying next to me
And as I see his son now all is clear to me.
Too young to speak but already a teacher to me.
Nothing in return, no boundaries
Into whatever you may grow. Wherever you may go
Suddenly I see, it’s unconditionally.
Grandmother and father may have lost their minds,
But crazy or not it makes me realize
How they must have felt in 1983
on the 23rd of April, unconditionally
Only love is unconditonally
Too young to understand but awaiting a little sister.
And the day she’ll arrive your love will be with her
And like my brother you will too
Put your arms around her like he used to do
Unconditionally....
Truest Colour
Verse 1
As I played my song and lifted up my head,
I opened up my eyes and saw these curls in read.
Her eyes looked like two blue oceans in the sun.
Oh I had no notion of what had just begun.
Verse 2
As she stared at me the time slowed down.
I closed my eyes and pictured all these curls in brown.
And I wondered in thoughts as my eyes couldn't see
what her true colour would be.
Prechorus
But I felt it and I knew it.This I had before.
This is what all the people are craving for.
Verse 3
As our eyes connected through that night.
Time went by to put your curls in another light.
The break of dawn had something else in mind.
As if in my arms there was another girl to find.
Prechorus
But I felt it and I knew it.This I had before.
This is what all the people are craving for.
Chorus
Your truest colour is all I see.
And all that is, is all to me.
If you want my love.
You just need to breathe.
Verse 4
When I look at you now your eyes and pretty curls.
I can't believe there we stood and stopped the world
I'll hold you in my arms another day.
To wait for the last curl to turn into a grey
Chorus 2x
Your truest colour is all I see.
And all that is, is all to me.
If you want my love.
You just need to breathe.
You just need to breathe
Bedingungslos
Was du auch willst, Egal.
23 april was onvoorwaardelijk.
hou alles aans kin wezen noa 32 joar.
‘N aander mens, ‘n aandere ziel,
mor zo herkenboar toun ‘t album open viel.
't roakt mie as pur geluk, 't veult onveurwoardelek.
mor gek of nait, 't opent mien ogen.
23 april troanen van geluk,
Dei dag in ’83 was onveurwoardelek.
D’r is more ain ding onveurwoardelek.
Onveurwoardelek
Geluk Zit Niet in de Kleine Dingen
Verse 1
Six Birds
Verse 1
I’d walked up the stairs on that day
to show my mother what I had made
Her eyes opened wide, caught by surpise.
I can’t believe she said you are a child of mine
Chorus
Use full width spread your wings
Travel to what’s given to you.
Use full width spread your wings.
Travel to what is yours to give.
Verse 2
I’d drawn six birds on that day.
On one piece of paper and their own branch to stay.
She said so many talents in you I see
I said to her they just were given to me.
Chorus
Use full width spread your wings
Travel to what’s given to you.
Use full width spread your wings.
Travel to what is yours to give.
Verse 3
And one by one all six birds on a day to come.
Will leave there branch and be gone.
Bridge
We need to trust the wind and go our way.
Cause we’ve got more than we can give away.
Chorus 2x
Use full width spread your wings
Travel to what’s given to you.
Use full width spread your wings.
Travel to what is yours to give.
Sixty Tours Around the Sun
Verse 1
Wrinkles wrapped around my eyes, wind waves up white soft silky hair.
The sun is already going down, but warms my heart with care.
All is ready now, it won’t be long, I now know where I’m coming from.
Ohhh how it all surrounds me right here right now.
Verse 2
My fingers still find their path, magnetically pick the pace.
Lips linger on towards a phrase, overwhelmingly praise the day.
You came along and took me sixty tours around the sun
Ohhh how it all surrounds me right here right now
Verse 3
My daughters sons don’t seem to care, garden trees make'm clamber on.
Growth rings make me so aware, how some things without display.
Can grow so strong just by turning around the sun.
Ohhh how it all surrounds me right here right now
Chorus
Sixty tours around the sun from where it all began.
That'swhere I wanna be I wanna be that old man.
I wanna be that old man, I wanna be an old man.
I wanna be an old man, I wanna be an old man.
Bridge
Ahhh as we go around in circles, I know it's on
in nothing more than one of them around the sun
Chorus
Sixty tours around the sun from where it all began.
That's where I wanna be I wanna be that old man.
I wanna be an old man, I wanna be an old man.
I wanna hold your hand, I wanna be that man.
Three Words
Verse 1
All is simple all so strong.
When our lips touch I belong.
When I look into your eyes I see
all that lays ahead of me.
Verse 2
Perfect lines will embrace your smile.
And the first grey hair won’t be mine.
All around your eyes will change,
but the love they give will never go away.
Chorus
No other words can find their way,
only three more left to say.
No other words can find their way,
only three more left to say.
Verse 3
You don’t have to change one single bit.
Though I’m so looking forward to it.
Maybe a big round curve one day
For another soul in the world to play
No other words can find their way,
only three more left to say.
No other words can find their way,
only three more left to say.
Bridge
On their own everyone so precious.
But so much more when bound together.
No other words can find their way,
Only three more left to say.
No other words can find their way,
Only three more left to say.
Black and White Wolf
The old man told an even older tale,
of who will win, seize prevail.
Young eyes grew bigger, wanting to see.
Two wolves fighting as he listened carefully.
In every man’s chest an endless fight.
Who’ll win, the black or the white.
In a moment of choice a man becomes free.
The old man chose his words carefully.
My for father’s spoke, today I do.
Who’ll win, holds within you.
The white grows bigger through love and empathy.
The black on greed, envy, anger and jealousy.
My dear grandson, these wolfs come allied.
Both can win, when kept side by side.
If you care for them, they’ll serve you peace.
And that is all, spoke the old Cherokee.
Chorus
Hauling wolves at night,
Hauling side by side.
Hauling wolves at night.
Feed the black and the white.
